The two identical Villas are situated next to each other, on a steep site in the area of Paleokastro, Heraklion Crete. The site has its own beach and an exceptional view to the sea and the city of Heraklion, an aspect that determined the whole strategy of the design.
The architects were assigned to redesign the villas (the frame already existed) inside out. Each villa is developed in three levels - ground, first and basement - and were designed according to the needs of a holiday house. On the ground floor are all the common living spaces which all have direct access to the swimming pool, barbeque and verandas. A 6.5m. long by 3.00 m. high glassed balcony door was placed in the living room area, creating a transparency with the exterior. The first floor accommodates all the main bedrooms. An emphasis was given to the master bedroom and bathroom, both situated on the east side, capturing the amazing views.
