The two identical Villas are situated next to each other, on a steep site in the area of Paleokastro, Heraklion, Crete. The site has its own beach and an exceptional view to the sea and the city of Heraklion, an aspect that determined the whole strategy of the design. The architects were assigned to redesign the villas (the frame already existed) inside out. Each of the villas is developed in three levels - ground, first and basement - and they are designed according to the needs of a holiday house. All the common living spaces can be found on the ground floor, with direct access to the swimming pool, barbeque and verandas. A 6.5m. long by 3.00 m. high glass balcony door was placed in the living room area, creating a transparency with the exterior. The first floor accommodates all the main bedrooms. An emphasis was given to the master bedroom and bathroom, both situated on the east side, capturing the amazing views.
